Twisted Bloodlines storyboard

I had a little fun on pinterest where I made a storyboard for Twisted Bloodlines. I've heard a few authors talking about this so I decided to do one myself :) The only problem is, the pins have gone into a random order but I have numbered them so they are easy to follow. Come over and take a look and see what you think :) http://www.pinterest.com/lindajacks12/twisted-bloodlines-story-board/

My date with Luke from Twisted Bloodlines

Here is a bit of a fun post for you, I decided to go on a date with one of the Twisted Bloodlines characters. It was a hard choice to make as to which of the guys to pick, because let's face it they are all drop dead gorgeous :) I know Trey would be first choice for some of you, but as much as I probably would enjoy a date with lord mischief, his unstable side is a little worrying. Devon would be another good choice, gorgeous and easy going, but I like a bit of danger in the mix so that kind of narrows it down to three, Blake, Luke and Paul. I decided to go with Luke, Blake is obviously unobtainable (Megan wouldn't be too pleased) and Paul is going through a bad patch (which is top secret at the moment :)) So Luke it is. Before we meet, I have to find a suitable outfit. Despite Luke's chilly aura, he still appreciates a fine looking woman, so I go with something simple yet eye catching. Skinny jeans, knee high boots and a white peasant blouse is my chosen outfit, I leave my hair down after a quick go-over with a curling tong and I'm good to go. Luke has advised me that he's chosen a small restaurant set in a scenic location and that he will arrive promptly at 8pm to pick me up. With five minutes to go, I pace nervously, unsure of how this date is going to go, but hey, I'm the author I can always re-write it :)It's 7.58pm and the sound of a car approaches, It's headlights illuminating the interior of my house. Taking a deep breath I approach the door and open it. Luke steps out of his silver BMW, his cool gaze traveling across my outfit, followed by a nod of approval before walking around to the passenger side where he opens the door for me. How very gentlemanly of him:) I slide past, chancing a glance at his gorgeous face. His violet eyes seem to sparkle against the shine of the headlights, I haven't quite worked out whether I like them yet. Unusual and a little unnerving, especially when he's angry, I guess you would have to spend a lot of time in his company to get used to them. My gaze travels over the rest of him, and I'm feeling a little overdressed. Luke is wearing a simple white T-shirt and navy jeans. The tight fit is very pleasing to the eye, as it reveals the outline of his well defined physic. I haven't had a rear view yet but I'm sure I will be rewarded with one in due course. I climb in, leaning back against the plush leather seat. Luke shuts the door after me and goes round to his side, getting into the car. There's something very alluring about watching him drive, his movements are smooth and relaxed as he rests one hand lightly on the steering wheel, lips curving as he clearly senses my admiration of him. We drive in silence and I'm thankful that the location isn't far, uncomfortable silences tend to make me babble and I don't think Luke is the sort of person who holds much patience. Arriving at our destination, he parks with total ease, (unlike my usual sad attempts)and he reaches my door before I've even unbuckled the seat belt. Thanking him, I follow Luke towards the restaurant and the rear view was definitely worth waiting for :)The restaurant is a cozy little number and we are seated at a table for two, tucked away in a corner out of view from the other diners.Looking at the menu, I decide to go for something lady like even though the loaded 6oz hamburger is very appealing, but I choose the caesar salad instead. I can always knock up a feast later when I'm alone. Luke chooses lamb chops, well done. Clearly he doesn't share the same taste as the animals he resides with, I half expected him to order a ridiculously sized rare steak with oozing blood everywhere. There are so many questions I want to ask him as he sits there expectantly, so I start by asking him about the people he lives with. He quite bluntly tells me that he has no interest in them, cutting my line of questioning short. I decide to ask about his sister but at the mention of her name, his face hardens and those violet eyes seem to glow, narrowing at me as though he is daring me to bad mouth her. I move swiftly on, asking his thoughts on Deacon instead. He shrugs his shoulders, apparently Luke has no interest in the brewing war among the races. Instead he views himself invincible to any attack they can make on him so therefore has no need to join forces in attack or defence. He tells me his only concern is Callie, his sister whom he will protect with his life, and everyone else is of no importance. His cold attitude towards the others sends a chill through me, and also kind of halts any further questions I had in mind. His intense gaze has me nervous, and absently twirling the string on my blouse which has begun to loosen, I follow his gaze as it drops to where my top has come undone, revealing more flesh than I'd like. My face flushes at where his gaze is directed, but I can't seem to get my hands to fasten the string, if anything I'm fighting to restrain myself from loosening it further. Luke raises his gaze, his violet eyes glowing in the dimly lit restaurant. I watch as his lips curl with the beginning of a smile, clearly amused by my flustered state. I feel the need to slap myself in the head for my stupidity, my lack of control is all Luke's doing. How could I forget about his powers of persuasion? I created it. He must realize I'm onto him, as his smile drops and he looks off into the distance. My control is returned to me and I quickly re-tie the string, double knotting it for good measure. Why didn't I pick Devon instead? Oh yeah, I wanted a bit of danger. Our food arrives and we return to the uncomfortable silence from earlier in the car. I know Luke doesn't hold that much interest in women, other than scratching an itch if you catch my drift, he also knows that I can repay his mischief in a very bad way. I could turn him into a shape-shifting unicorn if I chose to, I might even do just that :)The rest of the evening continues uneventful and I can tell Luke is eager for the night to be over. Bill paid, we return to the car and head back to my house. Luke has lost his earlier mannerisms, remaining in the car while I let myself out. A small nod in farewell before he speeds out of my driveway, going about his merry way back to fantasy land. Shutting the door on my disaster date, I return to my desk and fire up the laptop, my mind suddenly filled with thoughts of a very devilish scene indeed :)

Bree

I can't really say too much about Bree, she's kind of a secret :) Born to mixed breed parents, she has spent most of her life raising herself. Banished from the mage society, her own mother didn't bother to help her, despite the fact that it was her fault since she chose to sleep with Bree's father, knowing the penalty she would face. Cold hearted towards her first born child, she left Bree to make her own way into the world at the tender age of thirteen. With her father completely unaware of Bree's existence, she used her mixed heritage to get by. Shifting in order to hunt for food and using magic to defend herself against any threat that came her way, Bree toughened and managed to survive into womanhood. Through the years she gained an army of her own, each man dedicated to keeping Bree safe. She holds no interest in the power struggle among the races, preferring to stick to the shadows she grew up in. Stunningly beautiful, having been graced with both of her parents good looks, Bree is quite a sight indeed. Six feet tall, with long dark hair that reaches her waist, Bree keeps her appearance battle style. Hair twisted into one long braid, her perfectly curved body is kept clad in tight black leather, complete with combat boots. Bree has no need for long flowing skits or dresses, since they aren't exactly practical for her kind of lifestyle. Bree first appears in book three, and let's just say her presence is a big shock. There will be more of Bree in book five, and I'm really looking forward to working her into the story line, although tough, Bree is pretty laid back and even quite amusing, but does lack in the emotional department. Having spent many years in solitude until her little army grew, Bree has only had male company throughout the years, so emotions such as love, friendship etc are quite foreign to her. Follow the series to find out more about Bree and her parentage :)

Talia

Now that we are coming close to the release of book two, I want to introduce you to a character from book three. Talia crosses paths with Trey in this book, they are both held captive and it is definitely a situation she never thought she would end up in. Somewhat of a wanton woman, Talia has landed herself in a heap of trouble. Orphaned at an early age, Talia and her sister Jasmine, ended up under the care of Violet at the mage society. Unlike her sister, she hated being there and couldn't wait to become old enough to be able to leave, and make her own way in the world. Unfortunately her future seems to have been mapped out for her, Violet displeased by her wanton ways, has decided that she needs a consort, someone to control her and she has found just the guy to do it. Lewis is the total opposite, of the kind of guy Talia would choose for herself. Not one to be held back by circumstances she sneaks out, happening across a cute guy. Out of defiance but also desire, Talia decides to get a little more personal with the guy, ending up with them being caught in a very compromising position by Lewis. Angered and humiliated by her betrayal, Lewis kills the guy she is with and turns on Talia. Thanks to her gift, she knows he intends to kill her, and with one swift move she plunges her dagger straight through his heart. As the life leaves his body, Lewis manages to curse Talia with his last breath, no longer just a mage, Talia has also become something else entirely with Lewis's parting gift, leaving her a shadow of her former self. The beauty she once flaunted, replaced by something ugly that no man would willingly want to touch. Hauled to the dungeons where she is to live out the rest of her days, she comes across Trey and the pair embark on a crazy journey of their own in a bid to escape, but has Talia made a mistake by partnering with Trey? His personality changes so frequently, it's like accompanying Jekyll and Hyde. Will Trey and Talia accomplish there bid to escape to freedom? Will Talia lose her head and succumb to Trey, and his messed up emotions? Follow the series to find out :)

Tyson

Tyson is new to the cast of Twisted Bloodlines. He makes his appearance in book four. Dark skinned with closely cropped hair, and eyes so dark that they are almost black. Tyson has the appearance of a soldier, partial to combat trousers and boots, his six foot three figure is heavily muscled, and his ever presents muscle vest only emphasises his huge biceps. Tyson has seen and taken part in things that will haunt his soul for all eternity, but to him it was completely necessary to get where he is now. Having established himself in Deacons domain, he is in a prime position to extract his revenge on the man who has destroyed his life. Only a young boy at the time, hidden from view by his father, Tyson witnessed the horrific end to his entire family, slaughtered by Deacon. The future that had been mapped out for him, including the mate promised to him from the day of his birth, all gone thanks to one man. However it seems that isn't entirely true, in a cruel twist of fate, his intended mate turns up out of the blue, clearly not as dead as he thought she was since she is held prisoner in the very place he resides. His next mission given to him by Deacon, is to destroy her but will he complete it? If he doesn't, he risks compromising his position, Deacon is no fool. Tyson has already done plenty to damn himself to hell, what's one more? It would all have been for nothing if he fails now. Does she have what it takes to convince him otherwise, freeing her and saving what's left of his soul? Follow the series to find out :)

New characters

I love introducing new characters to my books, I think it helps to keep things fresh, especially since my characters tend to hold dark secrets and are not completely innocent and pure. If they were total angels, never making a mistake or stepping out of line once in a while, then they would be a complete bore. I do like a bit of mischief, keeps things interesting :)Some people think that too many characters are a mistake and can be confusing to keep track of, but the way I see it, is if they are interesting enough, then you should have no problem remembering who they are. It's also why I have put up character posts on this blog, as well as giving you an idea of who they are, you can also use it as a reference, in the event that you have forgotten who they are between book releases. (hopefully you won't :)) I've found in a few books I have read, where there have been just a handful of characters, they became boring and predictable leaving me routing for the bad guy to kill them off :) Each to their own opinion I guess. My next post features one of my upcoming new characters, I'm really looking forward to this guy, he has a very complex personality, and is stubborn to the core, hope you enjoy it :)

Sean

Sean is completely the opposite of his brothers, where they are fairly loud and quick to lose their tempers, he remains quiet and is much less aggressive. Dark hair and hazel eyes, Sean looks more like his mother, but this doesn't make him less appealing. Although well defined, he doesn't hold as much bulk compared to Jase and Paul, but is in no way weak. Seemingly gay, Sean has a thing going on with Trey, but sadly this is just a front. Sean hides a secret, one which he has kept to himself since his very early years. He has carefully trained himself to steer clear of the female population, instead choosing to desire males, which to him is a safer option. Sean doesn't really come to light until the fourth book, he is given a task to complete, but the journey doesn't go quite as smoothly as he thought it would. Temptation is at an all time high, pushing Sean to his limits, making him face what has been buried deep inside of him all this time. The question is, will he give in to the desire that has plagued him for years? And at what cost? With his carefully controlled life in upheaval, will Sean become what he has strived so hard to avoid? Watch this space folks :)

What is Twisted Bloodlines about?

I'm often asked what my book is about, obviously the blurb provides some insight but to sum it up a little bit more, here goes :) Twisted Bloodlines is the first in a series of six books, the characters come together in a twisted version of events, with one man at the source of it all.Pure evil runs through his veins, and each character has had the misfortune of interacting with him in one way or another, their lives forever changed by his evil touch. United by the wrong that has befallen to them, they find comfort together and become family, intent on protecting each other from his return. With his power growing stronger every day, and his army increasing in size, do they have what it takes to go up against him? Will fate let them succeed against the ongoing nightmare that plagues them? You will have to Follow their journey to find out :)

Sabrina

Sabrina joins the cast in Twisted Bloodlines book one. Hell bent on revenge for the loss of her entire family, she breaks into Deacon's establishment, while most of the unfortunate occupants are desperate to get out. These unfortunates, include Megan and Callie who have been captured by Deacon, and are held prisoner with no hope of escape. Sabrina stumbles across the pair in search of Deacon, and at first is reluctant to help them because of what Megan is. After they manage to convince her, Sabrina agrees to aid their escape, with every intention of remaining to fulfill her quest once Megan and Callie are safely out of the picture. Things don't go as smoothly as she would have liked, and it appears she has bitten off more than she can chew, instead joining them in their escape. Grateful for her help, Sabrina is welcomed into Megan's family and her home where she still remains, always ready to fight by their side when the need arises. I love Sabrina's character, she is feisty and has no problem speaking her mind. Although single at the moment she doesn't hide her appreciation of the male residents, and isn't afraid to voice it. I think she may have her eye on Luke, Callie's brother. Not exactly the best choice for a lover, Luke has no intention of committing to anyone, and is far from the loving type. I don't doubt Sabrina can hold her own, but Luke really can be a nasty piece of work, regardless of how gorgeous he is, I would suggest she admires him from afar. Sabrina's past catches up to her in book four, can she forgive and forget? Will she Go on to complete the destiny that was once laid out for her? Or will she continue to seek revenge, risking everything, including her life to right the wrong that was done to her? You will just have to keep following the series to find out :)

Peter

You don't hear much about Peter at the moment, but you soon will. He came into their life after Megan's first real taste of what Deacon is really like, although he had been around even before she was born. Peter is married to Beth and they are expecting his first offspring very soon. Peter is kind and somewhat of a big softie, although he is just as deadly as Blake, his previous occupation involved eliminating Deacon's men, preventing them from reaching their goal. Peter is kind of like the leader in a sense, they live at his families property which has been passed down through generations and he is a very wealthy man indeed, supplying anything the residents of the house need, regardless of the expense. He is well connected and informed on any threats that may be coming their way and prepares for them accordingly. Peter is quite a sight, his shaggy blond hair, streaked with highlights frames his face. He has smooth chiseled cheekbones and deep blue eyes, topping off his six foot frame, he shares a similar build to blake, which I'm sure has turned several female's heads in the past but he only has eyes for Beth.Unfortunately he is heading for some tough times which he really doesn't deserve, the question is, will we see a different side to the man we know and love? Peter has sacrificed so much for those around him, will they step up and return the favor? Follow Twisted Bloodlines to find out:)
Peter, isn't he adorable :)

Sapphire

You meet Sapphire in book two of the series, absolutely stunning, Sapphire is the mother of Luke, and Callie although she hardly fits the role for that title. I love Sapphire's character, there are so many different sides to her, ranging from downright evil to almost loving. Although she has mellowed through the years, don't make the mistake of thinking she has gone soft. Sapphire is as deadly as they get, she can extinguish you with a flick of her wrist and not think twice about it. Her husband was an extremely twisted man who delighted in taking a young Luke, into his basement to show him the sick assortment of dismembered trophies he had kept from his victims, including that of a severed head. Sapphire didn't want Callie to have to suffer the same fate or face something worse at the hands of her father, so she gave her away to be brought up in the human world away from the cold and evil one that she herself lives in. With Callie safely out of the picture, she then went on to kill her husband but this didn't end Luke's suffering. That role was transferred to Violet, Sapphire's mother who was far more evil than Sapphire, could ever be. There are many secrets about to be revealed, with Sapphire at the center of it all, and with a rather large secret of her own involving her past relationship with Blake, let's just say Sapphire's skeletons in her closet are about to take center stage. Her hidden talent has been uncovered and is being used to bind her by both her mother and Deacon. With her children caught up in the mix, Sapphire is not about to let them suffer, instead aiding them when she is able to, regardless of what punishments befall upon her. Sapphire is the key to the events about to unfold and what some may see as acts of kindness, she is in fact setting the wheels in motion for what is about to come. Her fate was sealed long ago, and she intends to set things right by making sure good, wins over evil even if it results in her death. Even though Callie and Luke haven't been showered with hugs and kisses by their mother, Sapphire is doing all that she can to protect them, showing her love in the only way she is able to, by her own personal sacrifice.

Paul

Paul is introduced in book one as he meets his younger siblings, Megan and Jase for the first time. Twin to Sean, both were brought up by a relative when Beth made her escape from Deacon, choosing to separate the children in order to make it easier for her to keep on the move. Mated and married to Amara, who is human but also no stranger to his world having been brought into it long before she met Paul, they have twin boys of their own but their relationship is far from loving. Paul keeps his feelings to himself, giving the appearance of a couple completely in love when it is anything but that. His failing marriage and resentment towards his mother's abandonment only becomes apparent in book three and four where you definitely see a different side to him than originally portrayed. His appearance is similar to his father Deacon, Paul is just as tall and broad although Jase is more of an exact double, feature wise. Paul is genuinely a nice guy and a devoted father but when his world falls apart, the beast within makes an appearence, transforming him into someone you really don't want to cross. There are a brave few who manage to raise a smile on his face every now and then, but sadly he won't allow anyone too close, even the one person who can save him from his downward spiral into destruction. When times are tough, we either fall apart or fight to improve them. Will Paul realize what is right in front of him or will he continue to loose himself, piece by piece until all that remains is a twisted replica of the father he once despised. You will have to follow the series to find out :)

Callie

Much like Beth, Callie had the misfortune of stumbling across Deacon, bringing her into his dark and disturbing world. After leaving a party she was quite intoxicated and also very upset, having just argued with her so-called best friend. Deacon appeared to her as a kind and gentle man, declaring that he wasn't comfortable letting such a young girl walk the streets alone at night. Referring to his own daughter, he confessed that he wouldn't allow her to do it either and this admission made Callie somewhat comforted, knowing that he had his own children but the fact that she was also extremely attracted to him played a major part in her decision to follow, as he led her down the street which ultimately became a very bad decision that will probably haunt her for the rest of her life. She met Megan whilst being held Deacon's prisoner and luckily they were freed by Sabrina who was there on her own agenda of revenge for Deacon's wrong doings. Considering herself human, Callie was terrified of the men surrounding her and despite being rescued by them and brought to a safe place, she found it hard to come to terms with the paranormal creatures living under the same roof as her. Callie has her staring role in book two where she finds her origins are not what she thought and that she is no longer the orphan she was led to believe. Her family members begin to crawl out of the woodwork but they are far from loving, making the beasts who have brought her to their home look like fluffy bunnies in comparison. Callie learns quite quickly that she needs to be strong to deal with the events surrounding her and use the power that she holds within. Through past horrors, heartbreak, love and finally feeling like she belongs, Callie has somewhere to call home and a family she loves although she still has a fight ahead of her if she wants to keep what she has fought so hard to achieve. When her maternal family mix with her newly adopted family, let's just say trouble is a mild excuse for the events that are about to unfold.
Callie how I see her :)

Beth

Beth hasn't had her major role yet but she will do soon and I think you'll be surprised by the outcome :)Beth is the mother of Megan, Jase, Paul and Sean and I guess you could say she is the cause of Deacon's presence, but hey people make mistakes. Being human she was completely naive to the Twisted Bloodlines world. Somewhat of a shy girl she was instantly flattered by attracting Deacon's attention. Sitting in her normal seat outside her favorite restaurant he approached the table asking if the seat beside her was taken. Lost for words by the gorgeous guy in front of her, she shook her head in reply and he took his seat sealing her fate. As time went by, she loved the attention Deacon lavished upon her, he played the part of the perfect gentleman well even surprising her with little gifts every now and then to keep her keen. Completely smitten by him, Beth didn't think twice about taking the next step and moving into Deacon's home. She soon found out exactly what horrors the love of her life was capable of, even witnessing some of it for herself but this only became evident after already having birthed twin boys and now expecting another set of twins, although this time one of them happened to be a girl. Deacon's sudden disturbing behavior had Beth worried and she desperately wanted to leave him before she was born. Already having made and failed an attempt to escape,Beth was on the lookout for another opportunity although Deacon had made things harder since her last try. Luckily her bid for freedom was rewarded by a handsome intruder who aided her escape taking her and the boys to a safe place. Beth eventually went on to form a relationship with her saviour Peter who happily raised her children as his own but not before she had wasted years running from one place to the next in a bid to escape both Deacon and Peter, who were always one step behind her both wanting to claim her as their own. Now expecting Peter's twin boys, Beth's troubles are far from over. The question is, will her deeply buried secret surface revealing who she truly is or will she have the strength to fight against it and do what's right? Follow the series to find out :)

Luke (friend or foe?)

Luke is another favorite character of mine. Introduced in book two, he's a very complex character indeed. Blond hair and blue eyed with a lean but well defined body, he is drop dead gorgeous although far from the easy going boy next door type. Luke is not the most friendliest of characters and also shares Trey's love of causing trouble. Its sometimes hard to determine whether he is friend or foe, being more than capable of holding his own, Luke is rather self centered and has no interest in defending Megan or the others if an attack is launched unless his sister asks him to. He often finds himself offered up to accompany the others as back up and will make sure he stirs up plenty of trouble in return for his reluctant services. Having grown up in a rather disturbing family, I think this may have contributed greatly to his frigid personality, he's almost unapproachable without giving some sort of cold remark for invading his personal space. His sister is the only person he cares about, his eyes practically light up in her presence and he can become quite disturbing at times when it concerns her. Luke holds a dark past, some of which is revealed along the way. The time spent in his father's basement of horrors, along with his job as the enforcer overlapping into his personal life are just some of the reasons why Luke is so cold. To be honest I'm not quite sure he is capable of love, especially after some of the things he has done and witnessed. Luke holds a special talent which makes him a great asset to anyone planning on launching an attack but of course he's far too selfish to assist anyone out of the goodness of his heart unless it benefits him in some way. Despite his personality, the females are still attracted to him although he does hold a particular talent of being very persuasive so this may be the reason why. None the less Luke has made sure he has reason to be among them, he's waited years following his sister in the shadows to finally be by her side and that is where he intends to stay no matter how much of a twisted plan it was to achieve it. The question is, will he hold up his end of the bargain and free her of the bind that he has placed upon her as promised? Or will he revel in the power he now has, choosing to keep her trapped beside him for all eternity?
Luke as I picture him :)

Deacon (the ultimate bad guy)

You gotta have a bad guy in any good thriller and mine is as bad as they get. Deacon is devastatingly handsome with a body ripped to perfection, along with a voice that is smooth and silky. He oozes charm, making it easy for him to snare his unsuspecting victims who fall into his trap, desperate for a grain of attention from this gorgeous guy. Most people hold a dark side, even if its just a small portion but Deacon is evil to the core. He has no mercy for his victims, pleading and crying will only get you further torture as your screams become pure music to his ears. I would like to think that the one lucky woman who escaped his torture and managed to free herself was because he held some sort of feelings for her but sadly that was not the case, it was all for his personal gain. You could put his twisted behavior down to his upbringing, both his parents were equally cold towards him as well as each other but he comes from a long line of twisted DNA which no doubt contributed to the way he is. He also holds no love towards his own offspring, Megan being the center of his twisted obsession since her birth has fallen victim to her father on several occasions. I'm pretty sure if his head was handed to her on a platter she would be the happiest girl in the universe. As well as being drop dead gorgeous he is completely deadly. He moves so swiftly, you won't see him coming and his strike is almost always fatal. Very few match up to Deacon's strength and his quest for power has resulted in him strengthening even more. Blake seems to be the only person so far who can make him flee although when they have gone toe to toe Deacon remained virtually unscathed by Blake's attacks. With so many enemies, will any of them be able to go up against Deacon and defeat him? You'll just have to keep following the series to find out :)
Deacon (gorgeous yet deadly) :)

Devon

Brought in as a second guardian over Megan, Devon's role is more on the sidelines of Twisted Bloodlines although you will see more of him in the second book in the series which is due out in December. As Blake's twin brother, Devon is the total opposite of him. Where Blake is more of the tall dark and moody type, Devon is surfer boy material. With sandy blond hair and bright green eyes, he prefers stonewash jeans and white T-shirts compared to Blake's standard black ensemble. Devon is the one who holds the sense of humor out of the pair and with the added bonus of dimples he is definitely 'meet the parents' material. Being the gentle giant type (His huge bulk is just as heavily muscled as Blake, which some find intimidating) he has found himself manipulated by Megan on more than one occasion causing friction between him and Blake, bringing out the rare appearance of Devon's fierce side for any unlucky bystanders but hey, siblings fight right? Maybe not in the same way as the cast of Twisted Bloodlines but then they aren't exactly normal :) Devon is almost shy when it comes to the female gender. While the likes of Jase and Trey are complete flirts, Devon prefers to remain on the side lines. He has no interest in finding a female to warm his bed or otherwise, having watched Blake suffer through the years was more than enough to put him off although fate may have other plans for him along with his inner beast becoming restless with the need to find it's mate. I love Devon's sweet and caring nature, it's refreshing compared to the rowdy nature of the rest of the males in the house, although this also becomes his downfall in book two where Devon is tested to his limits. The question is will he push aside his fears and fight for what he's destined to have? I guess you'll just have to read Twisted Bloodlines and make yourself familiar with Devon in preparation for the release of book two to find out :)
How I see Devon :)

Jase

Jase is filled with a lot of anger and resentment. Having always been the man of the house from an early age he took his role very seriously indeed. He did his best to protect his twin sister Megan from the constant threat of their father but he just doesn't have the strength to match up to him. His mother's marriage to Peter didn't help, especially when she praised his ability to protect Megan where Jase couldn't. Blake's appearance caused Jase further resentment as he took on the role of Megan's protector, pushing Jase further aside from his beloved twin. Despite this, he still continues to attempt to defend her as best he can even though at times he catches the hint of fear in her eyes when she looks at him causing Jase to despise the reflection staring back at him when he looks in the mirror. The resemblance Jase holds to the man that stalks Megan is so strong that he can't even comfort her when she awakens from a nightmare as she becomes momentarily confused in her dream state as to whether it is the beast himself by her bedside. It's not only Megan who is troubled by Jase's appearance, his father's other victim also holds the same reaction when she looks into Jase's eyes. Despite sharing the same face as the devil himself, Jase has no problems attracting the opposite sex. His model looks and muscled figure are more than enough to assure him a bedmate for the night. His easy going nature and sense of humor is also an attraction, although he is quick to anger and can sometimes sulk like a teenager. Jase has no trouble releasing his inner beast when an attack is launched and will give as good as he gets despite his lack of ability to take down the man that fathered him. Jase hasn't yet had his starring role but I can tell you that his time is coming soon, I have my own soft spot for Jase. Let's hope I can do him the justice he deserves :)

Trey

What can I say about Trey? I know he seems to be most of the Twisted Bloodlines favorite character as well as also being mine. Totally cheeky and drop dead gorgeous, his lean but well muscled body has most girls drooling all over him. Topped with a mass of wavy dark hair that you just want to run your fingers through while losing yourself in his deep brown eyed gaze, Trey is quite a sight indeed. He's very mischievous, loving to stir up trouble among the other residents. It's hard to tell whether his fiery passion is down to the beast inside of him or the man himself. His attraction is not just limited to the opposite sex although he has overstepped the mark a few times where the females are concerned. His easy going nature is often shadowed by the beast inside, always prowling at the surface ready to make an appearance and Trey does struggle to maintain his control over it. Disliked by most of the males he shrugs it off, instead using it as ammunition to stir up more trouble. Trey's loyalty to those he loves overpowers the obvious dislike surrounding him, keeping Trey firmly anchored to their side with no intention of moving on no matter how much some of them want him to. Trey has no trouble being on the front line when trouble comes knocking, if anything he thrives on it eager to release the beast within in the hope to satisfy its hunger. With his oozing sarcasm and witty sense of humor, Trey is the type of person any woman needs in their life,if they are committed or otherwise.

Megan

Megan is kind of the main character in Twisted Bloodlines. She is generally protected by those who surround her but the other characters also have their solo roles. Dark hair, piercing blue eyes and a body women would kill to have. Despite her appearance she is somewhat naive when it comes to the male population. Having always been on the move from one place to another she never really got the chance to lead a normal teenage life. The fear her mother tried to install into her at an early age never really sunk in until she came face to face with the beast who is always one step behind her. That day changed Megan's life forever, although she eventually overcame her agoraphobia through time, she still suffers terrifying nightmares tormenting her each night. Even though she managed to escape him that night she knows that the threat of his return is still hanging over her head. Her first crush was a disaster,Megan's obvious inexperience led to her fumbled attempt at capturing his attention only to be turned down. This however was not the last of it, in a cruel twist of fate further down the line the undivided attention which she once craved is now a major upheaval in her life especially with the arrival of her night in shinning armor who she desperately wants leaving Megan torn between the two. Despite not being completely human, Megan is far from as ferocious as the beast that lies within her, she is more like a damsel in distress than the warrior she is capable of becoming although she has put herself in many dangerous situations in defence of those she loves. Her strength lies more within her mind than anywhere else, Megan has had to deal with horrifying situations that most people wouldn't come through and still be able to retain their sanity but she continues to fight for the life she so desperately wants to live and refuses to fall to pieces that easily even though she is terrified of ending up in his grasp.

Another great review :)

5.0 out of 5 stars An action packed must read!, 2 Aug 2013 By Kateland soul Amazon Verified Purchase(What is this?) This review is from: Twisted Bloodlines (Kindle Edition) Linda Jackson's Twisted Bloodlines is an action packed book from the very first page to the last. This is the first instalment to what is set to be, one amazing series. Set around the life of young Megan and her family, it follows their life's at a moment of crisis. Haunted by the memories of what happened to her, and hunted by her own father. Megan and her family find themselves embarking on a whole new life. A life which will change them all for ever. But will they be safe? Megan finds herself in the centre of some dark and dangerous events, where the very people who are meant to protect her are the ones trying to bring her harm. This book will leave you on the edge of your seats and is a must read for all dark fantasy lovers. Well done Linda, can not wait for the next book :)

Meet the characters

I will be doing a post on each of the characters so you can get to know them a little better. The first up is Blake. Tall, very muscular and a total hottie with deep green eyes that you melt into. Definitely the mean and moody type, his face is always stern but on the rare occasion a smile escapes its enough to take your breath away. Blake is a very impressive fighter, probably the strongest out of the Twisted Bloodlines characters and not someone you want to get on the wrong side of. Far from a ladies man, he only has eyes for Megan and woe betide anyone who gets in the way of that. Extremely possessive, although he shares this aspect with most of the males. Call it the inner beast taking over and leaving its mark. Blake, although on appearance seems to be in his twenties is in fact much older than that. He has had great patience through the years, always remaining in the shadows until the right moment only to find that what he has been waiting for comes with a lot of complications and a path set with raw emotions ready to break him. His own past holds a secret that is only just being unveiled to him, the question is how will he deal with it on top of all the chaos already taking center stage in his life. A dedicated member of the household with a very short fuse, does Blake have what it takes to go the distance or will he break under the pressure and cut his losses, leaving behind that which he desires? I loved creating Blake, he has so much potential which hasn't yet been revealed. A dark side which is just begging to be released, replacing the strong and steady man which is on the surface. Blake has had to deal with so many difficult situations concerning his sole purpose Megan, who he has been patiently waiting for. Will he continue the fight for her? Is it worth it since her heart seems divided? You will have to read the book to find out :)

Q&A on writing and myself

1. What did you want to be when you grew up?
I always wanted to be an artist but I also wanted to work with dolphins. I soon forgot the latter and concentrated on the art side of things but once I got to college I found I didn't like the course. I moved on to a graphic design course but didn't like that either and that was as far as I got with my childhood ambition :)

2. What was your favorite subject at school?
As mentioned above, Art was my favorite subject with English as my second favorite. I was also quite partial to History and Spanish but if you asked me about either of these subjects now I wouldn't be able to tell you a thing :)

3. What is your favorite food?
I love all things pasta, I have even been known to have plain pasta smothered in ketchup! Some will say 'that is disgusting' but have you ever tried it? As for my favorite meal it would have to be Lasagne.

4. What is your best quality?
Hmm well I really like to help people whenever possible, I'm also a good listener or a shoulder to cry on.

5.What is your worst quality?
Kind of conflicting with the above question I tend to take a lot on, other peoples problems or assisting them when I should be dealing with my own commitments. I have been told this is my worst quality.

6. When did you first realize you wanted to be an author?
I used to write a lot of stories in my younger years but it was merely a hobby then, my passion being an artist at the top of my agenda. It was only recently in the last few years that I took it up again and began seriously considering becoming an author.

7. What does your family think of your writing?
Mostly they are supportive although sometimes probably feeling a bit neglected when I sit there for hours completely oblivious to my surroundings.

8. What is your work schedule like when you are writing?
I don't really have a schedule, I write when I get the chance although when it comes to editing that does become priority. I do try to write a little each day especially since I have quite a few projects I am working on at the moment.

9. What do you like to do when you're not writing?
Um, thinking up plots and scenes lol. Generally writing or keeping up with my websites and blogs tend to take up most of my time even when I don't intend them too. If I get the chance between running a home and dealing with children then I will sit down and read a book.

10. Where and when do you write?
I write whenever I get the chance as for where, I will sometimes take a notebook with me in the mornings when taking my children to school. Other than that it is usually in the lounge while sitting on the sofa or at the kitchen table.

11. What do you like most about being a writer?
I love creating my own little world, I especially love creating my characters and giving them a personality and their own roles in the world I have made for them. The best part is when it all comes together and you have a finished story of your own making, that is such an accomplishment :)

12. Would you like to hear from your readers and accept comments good or bad?
I would love to hear from my readers whether they enjoyed it or not , any feedback is helpful for my future projects. I actually prefer the personal approach, discussing the good or bad points of my book or even explaining something that was not understood is definitely an approach I would use. I am always available to readers or otherwise who wish to talk to me, and can be contacted on any of my sites :)

The series

Book Two is due to be released in December 2013 but I will be giving updates as to the progress as I go along. There will be a total of six in the series and I am toying with the idea of a spin off, although I also have a few unrelated projects in mind at the moment as well so as they say watch this space :)

My Review:
Well, let me just say that this is a fantastic book, but it’s not for the faint of heart nor the weak stomached. It’s a thrilling, scary ride through the life of Megan, but it’s complicated, and dark, and hauntingly amazing. I have never been more shocked by a story’s plots, and bad guys, and twists, and secrets. Trust me, it’s full of things that are awe-inspiring. Plus, let’s just say that the characters will all surprise you. :)
Megan is a complex character. She’s a scared timid girl when you first meet her- for good reasons. She has been on the run constantly from her father, and boy would I run too. Actually I think I would find every way possible to kill him, but it’s a little more complicated than that. But anywho. So, as she moves to a place she feels safer, she begins to find her self and friends, and for the first time, it really feels like she has a family. Until… well, let’s just say when you constantly have to look over your shoulder, and watch your back, there’s really no way to not make a mistake. And when her new best friend seems to be in trouble, she gets herself in more trouble that she helps. Megan’s adventure, if you can call it that, is a going to wow you.
There’s so many side characters to talk about. Megan’s twin brother, her mother, her step father, her new best friend and his crazy sister, the crazy stalkers that come around every corner, her new step cousins, I could go one. There’s so many secrets going on between the different characters. And the plot was so well planned. I did not expect things when they happened. This type of crazy hasn’t been done before :) It’s one of those stories that I have to say, it was amazing, but sometimes hard. Some of those things may be hard, but they made the story. I definitely cannot wait for more of this story to go on. I seriously need a few to get what’s coming to them, both good and bad. 5 JAW DROPPING, HEART WRENCHING ACTION PACKED PAWS!

Twisted Bloodlines Blurb

Megan has never had what most would call a normal life.

Her childhood and teen years were spent on the run with her family, hiding from a horror so great it defines their world. Friends and homes are traded at a moment’s notice to escape from their worst nightmares.

Years pass, and her mother settles down with her new step-father, a kind man who does his best to protect them. Life lulls into a safe pace, and Megan finally feels as though she has control of her future for the first time in her life. But that peace is shattered with the arrival of a new family member, one that bears a striking resemblance to a savior of her past…

Confused by her deep emotional connection to him, things unravel fast. She learns that the people she lives with, even her own family, are not what they seem. Her only friend who helped her piece her life back together changes overnight, and she is left dealing with the fallout on her own…

As events unfold, Megan finds herself face to face with the horror that has haunted her since childhood. But will she be able to escape from her twisted bloodline?

About me

I live in London with my husband and children. I've always had a love of books ranging from different genres throughout the years. I used to love writing stories in my younger years but art had always been my passion. Only in the last few years had I decided to return to my writing again and my first book in the paranormal thriller series Twisted Bloodlines is available now. Writing my book has been such a learning curve, there is so much that goes into it and although it has been tough, I have definitely enjoyed the experience. Meeting other authors who were always glad to help out and learning how to build my own website and blogs are only some of the highlights of my journey so far. Of course nothing beats seeing your book with it's cover and the satisfying feeling of accomplishment when the edits are finished knowing that you will soon be able to hold the finalized version in your hands is the ultimate highlight of it all. Twisted Bloodlines will be the first of six books in the series and I am also working on some other projects so I'm guessing I will be very busy :)
